2011-05-04 05:30:52I visit Nicaragua about every three months on business from the US so have had the opportunity to stay at a lot of different hotels, including very upscale places such as Hotel Dario. None of the places compare to Hotel Joluva in terms of friendliness of owners/staff and value for $. The only problem is that it is sometimes difficult to get a reservation as there are just five very clean rooms and it is very popular especially with Europeans and North Americans. I am NOT 60+ years and neither are most of the other guests who I have met. There are some younger men (18+) who stop in from time to time; they have always been friendly and chatted with me without any $ given. Owners are very helpful in giving info about local gay scene. Club Alegria is a private gay-owned residential community 5 km from Granada it is NOT Hotel Joluva.

2011-04-13 10:09:50This place is a mess. Pretty boring unless your are 60+ years old and can't find a date at any bar in Nicaragua. It's set up like a brothel without the rooms. The Joluva Hotel owners arrange for barely 18+ year old guys to hang out and flirt with the clients. No conversation occurs with out dollar bills. The vibe is a lot like going to a female strip club. The highlight is safety. Alegria should not be this club's name. It's not happy at all.
